Corporation takes part in International Forum

The Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) is taking part in a international forum being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia between 26 and 27 January 2023.
The Forum, which is entitled “Invest Origins”, is organized by Land Bank and Development Corporation (LBDC), a state-owned development organization.
On the occasion, the stand of ECWC was visited by several government officials, local and foreign investors as well as by other invited guests.
The Forum, which is taking place in Science Museum, has brought about hundreds of participants from here and abroad.
ECWC, Galilee Sign MoU

Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) and Israeli-based higher learning institution, Galilee International Management Institute, signed recently a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable the two parties work together in various endeavours.
At signing ceremony held at the Office of the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation on 21 Jan. 2023, Corporation CEO, Engineer Yonas Ayalew and Institute President, Dr Joseph Shevel sign the document on behalf of their institutions.
After signing the agreement, Eng. Yonas said the corporation is desirous to train the executive bodies and other professionals of the corporation in collaboration with Israeli scholars, especially in the fields of engineering.
The corporation has been establishing its own construction professional’s development institute, the CEO said, adding scholars from Galilee Institute are expected to provide series of trainings as per the agreement signed between the two parties.
Dr Joseph Shevel said on the occasion Galilee International Management Institute is keen to work together with the corporation especially in provision of trainings, boosting agricultural production, efficient utilization of water resources and installation of solar energy producing facilities as Ethiopia and Israel share various social and cultural issues.
Galilee International Management Institute has been undertaking lots of agricultural development projects and brought about remarkable achievements in various African countries like Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria and Liberia, the president said.
The current agreement is only a token of understanding, he said, Galilee International Management Institute will be preparing detailed documents for mutual cooperation within the coming few months.
H.E Chaltu makes remark on 'women in construction summit

H.E Mrs. Chaltu Sani, minister of urban and construction of Ethiopia made remarkable speech in the event of women in construction summit in Dubai that, the government of Ethiopia's due attention given for women that 36 percent of the cabinets are females.
The minister also stressed that, there is a need to create conducive policies and procedure to support and attract women in the construction sector. In addition, H.E Mrs. Chaltu Sani remarks that, creation of equal opportunity and realization conducive working environment would also help to promote women's participation in the construction industry.

Minister of the FDRE Minister of Urban and Infrastructure H.E Mrs. Chaltu Sani, State Minister H.E Mr. Wondimu Seta and State Minister H.E Mrs. Helen Debebe from the same Ministry visited the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) stand at Dubai World Trade Center opened in December 5, 2022.
H.E Mrs. Chaltu Sani appreciated ECWC’s effort to promote Ethiopia’s investment potential in general and showcasing the Corporation’s effort to attract potential investors to work together to grasp the Eastern and Central African Markets. Furthermore, H.E admired ECWC’s participation in the Global Construction Leaders’ Summit that enables ECWC to gain and share experiences of the state of the art construction project management skills and technologies.
The BIG 5 international building and construction show will be closed in December 8, 2022.
ECWC signs an MoU with ACI

The Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) signs an MoU with an American Concrete Institute(ACI) to increase collaboration and cooperation in matters of improving concrete construction through the support of technical expertise in ways of publications, meetings, conferences, internet links, committee membership, and certification activities.
The agreement was signed between Engineer Yonas Ayalew, CEO of ECWC and Charles Nmai , president of ACI in the 7th of December 2022 at Dubai, World Trade Center.
President underscores infrastructure gap top most challenge for Africa’s economic growth, social progress

President Sahilework Zewdie said infrastructure gap in Africa has remained the top most challenge toward bringing about sustainable economic growth and social progress across the continent.
The president made the remark on 08th Nov. 2022 while opening the 6th African Engineering Conference and 8th Edition of African Engineering Week here in Addis Ababa at Science and Technology museum.
Africa, as continent of huge infrastructure deficit, has a number of priority areas to be addressed toward ensuring sustainable development, but the issue of expanding the necessary infrastructure remained the top most priority, the president underscored.
Her Excellency Sahlework Zewdie said experts in all fields shall have conversations of such a kind and exchange experiences in order to solve problems and thereby ensure the kind of Africa we want.
Addressing the conference President of Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers, Eng. Yonas Ayalew said since every development endeavor is linked with availability of basic structure needs of the society, researchers, contribution to excel existing knowledge and creating news ways of doing things has a paramount importance.
He said Africa’s shortcoming in the area of infrastructure development shall be resolved through full-fledged and coordinated and coordinated efforts of all concerned bodies engaged in the sector.
The conference, which is organized by the Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers(EACE) in collaboration with Federation of African Engineering Organization (FAEO) and World Federation of Engineering Organization (WFEO) under the theme “Accelerating Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Africa Together”, is expected to dwell on various issues related to engineering and construction endeavors in the coming three days.
